Leading Boomers / Seniors Marketing Agency Launches Survey on Attitudes Towards Websites and Social Media

Woodbridge, VA – [April 5, 2016]Leading mature marketing agency Creating Results is launching the third edition of its one-of-a-kind national research project, Social, Silver Surfers (www.socialsilversurfers.com). First released in 2010 with a second edition in 2013, Social, Silver Surfers chronicles the changing attitudes of boomers and seniors towards websites and social media.

“Hundreds of marketers have downloaded previous editions and seen the benefits of applying the insights to their digital marketing,” said Creating Results CEO Todd Harff. “In three years, however, there have been many changes in technology. We’re eager to see how older adults may have changed their digital behaviors and preferences.”

The Social, Silver Surfers 2016 national study includes two online surveys:

  • http://bit.ly/WebSSS16 - Questions related to website usability, pet peeves and favorite features.
  • http://bit.ly/SocSSS16 - Questions focused on social media attitudes, such as whether seniors, Baby Boomers and GenXers even want to connect with brands on social platforms.

The research includes specific questions for recent movers, reflecting the interests of those marketing senior living, 55+ housing and all-ages communities.

The surveys on web and social marketing attitudes are open to anyone over 40 years of age. “We chose this age range strategically,” said Harff, “as many people in their forties are caring for elderly parents or participating in decisions about senior transitions.”

The director of the study, Erin Read, noted that most public research into digital marketing ignores mature consumers. “Either the researchers completely ignore Boomers and seniors or they lump them together,” she said. “These are poor choices, because Boomers alone are consistently the highest spenders in nearly every category. The Social, Silver Surfers study gives businesses the quality data they need to make better marketing choices.”

Data will be collected in-person and online through May 5, 2016. Findings will be shared with the public beginning in June of 2016.
