The 2023 LeadingAge PA Annual Conference, held at the Kalahari Resort in the Poconos, brought together industry leaders, professionals and experts in aging services. With a diverse range of workshops, presentations and networking opportunities, the conference provided a platform for attendees to delve into key topics and emerging trends in the aging services sector. Let’s take a moment to reflect on some of the most inspiring moments from the event.
LeadingAge PA highlight 1: Keynote addresses
The conference kicked off with a powerful keynote address from Tim Tebow who shared his perspective on the best leaders in his life, relating back to his time in the National Football League and tying it to those of us in the industry. Listen to this quick clip from his keynote address.
We also heard from acclaimed thought leader, Nick Tasler, a best-selling author and organizational psychologist. The biggest takeaway and what many folks who attended kept quoting from his speech was a simple phrase and response. When someone says, “change is hard,” you respond with “growth is happening” — it helps to change the perspective and the narrative in the tough situations we’ve faced in our industry.
LeadingAge PA highlight 2: Engaging workshops
The 2023 LeadingAge PA Annual Conference offered an array of interactive workshops that covered a wide range of topics. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in sessions focusing on dementia care, innovative housing solutions, workforce development, policy advocacy and more.
Creating Results offered a real-life case study demonstrating the interdependencies between marketing and sales. It came from the perspective of both the prospect and the sales counselor focused on moving them through the buyer’s journey and finding creative and relevant ways to encourage them to tour a senior living community. Kimberly Hulett, Creating Results President, and Katie Erdman, Regional Director of Sales at Phoebe Ministries, shared tips to use various digital tools to help deanonymize a lead and meet them where they are to demonstrate value and ultimately gain trust. Attendees left with actionable takeaways.
One attendee expressed, “This felt so real to me. Seeing and hearing all the ways our marketing can help sales and how sales can use marketing in their process is something I can bring to my team. And now I know I need more marketing automation.”
